Z-Type Steel Sheet Pile

Z-type steel sheet piles are hot-rolled sheet piles with a Z-shaped cross-section. They are commonly used in automotive manufacturing, railway projects, structural steelwork, and bridge pier construction.

The interlocks are located on both sides of the neutral axis. The continuous web gives the pile a higher section modulus, which helps improve wall stiffness and reduce deformation under load.

Z-type sheet piles have a wide section, high section modulus, and large moment of inertia. These properties make them suitable for projects where high strength and stiffness are required. For applications in highly corrosive environments, the steel thickness can be increased in critical areas to provide better corrosion resistance and longer service life.

Z-Type Steel Sheet Pile Installation Process

Z-type steel sheet piles are typically installed with a vibratory pile driver. The main construction sequence is:

Guide frame installation → Sheet pile preparation → Sheet pile driving → Internal bracing → Water leak sealing → Sediment removal → Base hardening → Cap and pier construction → Sheet pile extraction

Single-pile and panel driving methods can be used to maintain proper alignment and verticality during installation.

For water leakage control, tarpaulin and sandbags are used around the affected areas, while cotton and sand can be packed into gaps to reduce seepage.

After construction, the sheet piles can be extracted using a 50-ton crawler crane and vibratory hammer. The method allows efficient installation and removal with limited disturbance to the surrounding area.

Z-type steel sheet piles are widely used for cofferdams, temporary retaining structures, and municipal infrastructure projects.
