The Liner Specification Was Still Being Discussed When Procurement Already Moved Forward

The first mention of 84 inch carbon steel pipe liner came in a short email from a subcontractor working on a wastewater discharge project in the Gulf region.

At that time, Revision 2 drawings were already circulating inside procurement.

Engineering had something newer, but I don't think everyone had actually opened the file yet.

The liner requirement was mentioned in passing, not in a dedicated specification sheet.

It was tied to corrosion protection, but also somehow mixed with installation sequencing depending on who you asked.

A few days later, someone forwarded Revision 3.

I remember seeing it once, but I am not sure it was ever formally acknowledged.

Procurement continued using the earlier version anyway, because the quotation had already been sent.

No one really stopped the process at that point.

There was a discussion about aligning revisions, but I don't think it ever turned into a proper meeting.

Site team was still printing drawings from an older folder on their side.

At one point, we realized there were at least three versions being used at the same time, but nobody clearly took ownership of consolidating them.

One email just said something like:

"Proceed for now, clarification later if needed."

After that, things just moved.

Later, Revision 4 appeared in the shared folder.

I don't remember any notification about it.

It was just there.

By the time installation planning started, some sections were already based on printed drawings, not the latest files.

The liner specification itself never really became a single agreed document during that stage.

It was more like something everyone assumed they understood, even though they were not looking at the same version.
